What fog liquid does for your event
A fog machine heats the liquid and turns it into fog. That fog is what makes your lights look like stage lights: laser, beam and PAR light beams only show in the air when there is fog for them to hit. Each liquid also has its own pleasant scent. Mr Jayantha, JDN's owner, says any water-based fog machine can take it.

The bigger the can, the lower the price per litre: the 5L works out to about Rs 790 a litre, against Rs 1,150 for the 1L.

Can I put water in a fog machine?
No. Never put water in a fog machine, and never mix water into fog liquid. Water does not make fog. Mr Jayantha tells customers:
"Smoke liquid වලට වතුර කවලම් කරන්නේ නැහැනේ 😆 මැෂින් කැඩෙනවා." (We don't mix water into smoke liquid. The machine breaks.)
"වතුර දාලා දුම් එන්නේ කොහොමද? Smoke chemical එක දාන්න ඕනේ." (How will smoke come out if you put in water? You have to put in the smoke liquid.)
Two more rules from the instructions he sends with every machine:
- Never switch the machine on with an empty tank. Running it dry burns out the liquid pump and the heater.
- Use only good-quality, water-based fog liquid. Poor-quality liquid voids the machine's warranty.
Strawberry or Apple?
- Strawberry Fog Liquid is the one most customers ask for: sweet and lively.
- Apple Fog Liquid is the other favourite: fresh and clean.
Mr Jayantha says both are equally good, so choose the smell you like.
Which size suits your machine and event?
Most customers buy the 2L. On the 600W RGB Fog Machine, 1L is enough for one night.

The 900W and 1000W tanks each hold about 1 litre in one fill.
- 1L suits a birthday, a home party or one night on a 600W machine.
- 2L is the usual buy, and suits a wedding or a DJ night.
- 4L and 5L suit DJs, bands, rental teams and venues that use fog every week or every month.
How long does a can last?
Mr Jayantha counts usage in shots, where one shot is one press of the remote. One litre gives about 200 shots on the 600W RGB Fog Machine. Bigger machines and long bursts use liquid faster, so if you have a bigger machine, tell us how you plan to use it and we'll suggest a size.
Using it on the night
- Give the machine about 5 minutes to warm up.
- Wait for the red light on the wired remote, then press.
- Each burst lasts about 17 to 18 seconds. The machine then pauses until the red light comes back.

Looking after your liquid and machine
- If you empty the tank, you can reuse the leftover liquid as long as it is still clear.
- Keep the cap tightly closed between events.
- Store the can in a cool, shaded place, away from sun and heat.
